All Scoops & Baffles arrive closed but can be easily be opened.

  Customers agree that opening the rear baffles  on a TECHHOOD™ can lower the engine temperature by 3°-8° on a hot day.  When opening the rear baffles, leave about 1/2" of the flat area facing both the driver and the engine allowing for integral strength and mounting of an expanded mesh screen (NOT SUPPLIED) to keep out leaves and debris,  if desired. 

To open the scoop & baffle drill a starter hole(s) in the corner of the opening to prevent cracking.  To avoid chipping be sure to use a very dull drill bit.  A sharp bit will tend to pull in too quickly, and crack the gellcoat.  

Once the holes are drilled, follow the scoop opening with a die grinder or VERY fine tooth saber saw......be sure to leave at least 1/8" of material.

Lastly with your scoop & baffle opening roughed out it can be finished and smoothed with the use of sand paper wrapped around a paint stirer - to act as a file.  This wil give you a smooth edge which you can hand sand to your specifications.

  Fiberglass is itchy, scratchy, flammable and not intended to be inhaled.  Use and wear the proper safety equipment when working with these materials.
