CHEVY TRUCK INSTALL CONTINUED. . .
. .
 |
 |
 |
| Cut out the windows
and hang the new doors. On the convertible models the top post of the door must be
removed. Bolt the hinges in place and adjust the door to have a 1/4" gap all
the way around. Occasionally elongation of the hinge holes is necessary. Drill
the indicated holes for the door latch, handle & striker plate - along with the inside
regulator holes. Install and adjust the doors catch mechanism - drill and install
the window roller track - install the vent window pillar - window regulator - door
glass & seals. The outer seal can be secured to the door using epoxy along with
3/8" long #6 screws. |
 |
 |
 |
| Place the tilt
front end in its location and align it with the doors - providing the same 1/4" gap
at the door seam. ( Note: In some cases you must move the entire core support with
radiator back toward the fan a few inches to allow for Hinge Kit clearance. To do
this, relocate the front mounts back and shorten the top rods previously manufactured.)
With the front end in place check the lower fender alignment - wood blocks or shims
can be used under the front end to achieve a perfect alignment. The front end may need to
be set back 1/4" allowing for the sanding of the back edge - for a good door
gap. Take 2 Tilt brackets with the gussets both on the outside and lay them on the frame
rails. |
 |
 |
 |
| Cut down the other
2 gusetted brackets to fit onto the steel bar in the front end. They may have to be
cut down quite a bit. Assemble the tilt hinges alike - with the pin coming out the
same side of each set. Align all of the brackets as shown and bolt or weld them in
place. Top bracket to the front ends steel bar and one side of the hinge.
Lower bracket to the frame rail and the other side of the hinge. A rubber shim may
need to be placed to fill in the void between the upper and lower gussetted angles. |
 |
 |
 |
| Once the hinges are
secured in place - the front end should be able to tilt all the way over until the hood
lays on the ground. (Note: Proper installation of the hinges will allow for
front end removal - by simply tilting it up beyond the gussets and sliding it off to one
side.) During this install the presplits must continually be fitted to insure proper
alignment. Secure them to the cab by fastening them to the side of the air box once
the front end has been properly aligned. |
